East vs Volunteer 8/26/08

August 28, 2008
By Rick Waller of Sullivan East High School

The Lady Patriot volleyball team broke into the win column tonight with conference opponent Volunteer High School. Trying to come back from last night's loss, the Lady Patriots came out strong against the Lady Falcons taking a tough first game, 25-16. East continued on with that momentum making quick work in the second game, 25-11. Volunteer didn't go down quietly however. They rallied in the third game to get within one at 19-18. That streak stopped there as the Lady Patriots won serve and went on to take the next 5 points on serve to win the final game of the match 25-18. Kelsey Trivett had a strong serving game and Rachel Hodge had some strong kills to help the Lady Patriots even their season and conference record to 1-1. The Lady Patriots will next travel to Sullivan South on Thursday for another key conference matchup.
